Strangers 

Singaporean, especially student like us we take public transport a lot. 

So today I was just sleeping and obviously my head was just going left and right. ( FYI not having good sleep for the longest time T^T) I was reaching my station is a few stop when I realised that on my right was an Uncle who was also dozing off and he was moving his head my toward my side and beside me was a lady that was sitting ABIT too close to me. Which mean I was having close to zero personal space. 

If you know me, I’m actually the type of person that will purposely knock to kind of wake them up and send an indirect message of you are invading my personal space PLEASE STOPPP.😭 

So that’s what I actually did to the Uncle. So reaching my station the Uncle started chatting with me which I was quite shock because I had my earpiece on and he somehow know that I will be listening. I actually thought he was going to ask me about directions. 🤣

So he started talking about am I studying and is it the exam period. ( I think he saw me dozing off) I just gave the typical ‘paiseh’ laughter. And than those typical things like what school and course you are studying. Saying that Singapore governments should give more opportunities for optometrist? He also kind of just mentions that his son was studying Buiseness and Psychology in some Buffalo University. What’s funny was we alighted the train at the same station and he told me like he thought I knock him to wake him up to alight the train. ( I WAS LOW KEY LIKE OPPS) 

I remember how I was talking to a group of friends saying about Singaporean and people from other countries are different in terms of just having random conversation with strangers. I mean personally I would love to chat with random people but the fact that you have to start the conversation and people will actually start staring at you like what are you doing. Also, we have to think about if that stranger is willingly to continue that conversation. 

So question for you, do you like when strangers have a conversation with you? Will you try to engage a conversation with strangers? 😊
